Eco Challenge

Eco Provocarea is an educational, extra-curricular, environmental protection and personal development program aimed at primary school, gymnasium (Eco Provocarea Juniori) and high school (Eco Provocarea Liceeni) students. Started in 2010 as a competition between schools from 2 counties, Zalău and Călărași, it expanded to the national level in 2016. . They have an organization throughout the school year practical and theoretical environmental protection activities, for the care they receive points. At the end of the competition, the teams with the best results are rewarded either with places in the Leadership Camp for the Environmental Eco Challenge (in the case of high school students), or with cash prizes, the allocation of the necessary environment-friendly equipment, in the instructional-educational process (in the case of juniors).

The Eco Challenge received, in 2024, at the Green Report gala, the award for “Excellence in Environmental Education”. According to the jury, the Challenge contributes to the achievement of the fourth goal of the United Nations’ sustainable development (SDG 4): quality education. Over the years, Eco Provocarea gathered under its umbrella 12,000 students and eco-ambassador teachers, who organized recycling, planting, sanitation and educational events (circular economy fairs, awareness campaigns, environmental marches). As an environmental impact, the eco-ambassadors managed to achieve: 1,064,559 kg of recyclable materials collected, 326,479 saplings planted, 12,073 bags of waste collected from nature. Through the three pillars, awareness, learning and practice, the Eco Challenge manages to support the sustainability of modeling responsible and active behavior in society.
